Assistant or Associate Director, Clinical Chemistry Laboratory - Brigham and Women's Hospital

The Department of Pathology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a principal teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, is seeking an Assistant or Associate Director of Clinical Chemistry. The Clinical Chemistry Laboratory performed over 6 million tests in 2017 and services a 793- bed hospital.

Candidate should have a MD, PhD or MD/PhD degree and Board certification or Board eligibility in Clinical Pathology or Clinical Chemistry. Applicants should have a strong record of training and experience in chemistry and a strong commitment to a career in academic practice and educational scholarship. A successful applicant is expected to play an active role in the daily operations of Clinical Chemistry including test interpretation, clinical consultation, assay implementation, specimen processing and regulatory compliance. The applicant is expected to teach Clinical Pathology residents and medical students through didactic sessions and to participate in clinical and translational research. Interest in performing interpretative sign- outs for serum protein electrophoresis, hemoglobin electrophoresis and/or flow cytometry is desirable.

The BWH Department of Pathology has more than 120 faculty members and 55 residents and clinical fellows offers complete Anatomic and Clinical Pathology services. The Department of Pathology is currently undergoing targeted growth in advanced diagnostic testing and provides unparalleled opportunities for clinical, translational and basic research. Collaborations in many areas of science and innovative educational technologies are available in the department and with investigators in multiple Harvard-affiliated institutions, including Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Applicants should be committed to excellent patient care, scholarship, and effective teaching. Academic rank at Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor and salary will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
