Clinical Chemist - Cleveland Clinic

The Clinical Biochemistry Section in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic is seeking an academically oriented clinical chemist to serve as associate medical director. Responsibilities include medical director oversight of laboratory testing and quality, assay development and validation, primarily within special chemistry. The successful candidate will participate in clinical service (clinical and technical consultation) across the section, and will engage in the teaching and research missions of the department. The Clinical Biochemistry Section provides diagnostic and consultative services for the Cleveland Clinic Health System (CCHS) and is the central laboratory for CCHS hospitals in northeast Ohio delivering over 20 million tests annually. The section consists of automated chemistry, special chemistry and immunopathology laboratories, and is supported by 4 additional medical directors.

Interested candidates must have a PhD, MD, MD/PhD degree and be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry or the American Board of Pathology, as applicable. Fellowship training in clinical chemistry is highly desirable. Experience and knowledge in development and oversight of mass spectrometry and automated clinical chemistry tests are highly desirable.
