The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking faculty members for the Division of Microbiology in the Section of Laboratory Medicine. The candidates must have an M.D. with board certification in Laboratory Medicine/Clinical Pathology or a Ph.D. with training and boards (or board eligible) in Clinical Microbiology. Expertise in clinical bacteriology and molecular infection disease are particularly sought. Experience in a large hospital-based service is beneficial. The successful candidates for these positions will assist in the ongoing development of cutting edge technologies and diagnostics, contribute significantly to the varied diagnostic, research and educational activities of the Microbiology laboratory, and pursue clinical/translational or basic investigations. All Divisions in Laboratory Medicine have a strong interest in service, research and education and serves the entire UPMC Health System, encompassing some 20+ hospitals. Academic rank (Assistant/Associate/Professor tenure/nontenure depending on qualifications), directorship in microbiology laboratories, and salary will be commensurate with experience.
