Associate Director of Clinical Chemistry - University of Kentucky

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kentucky, in Lexington, is recruiting a Clinical Chemist/Clinical Pathologist with fellowship training in clinical chemistry. Interested candidates must have a PhD or MD/DO and be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry or the American Board of Pathology. Academic rank, compensation and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate would join a dynamic clinical chemistry team located in an academic hospital-based practice and engage in active laboratory management, teaching, and collaborative research programs. This position is available immediately and will remain open until the appropriate individual is recruited.

Responsibilities will include clinical service (oversight over one or more of the clinical chemistry laboratories), teaching (primarily pathology residents and clinical chemistry fellows), and collaborative and/or independent research activities.  For this reason, candidates must have training and/or experience in directing a clinical laboratory, interpretation of laboratory test results, proven success in teaching, and a capacity for scholarly productivity. 

The Clinical Chemistry team at the University of Kentucky Medical Center is part of an integrated department of pathology http://www.mc.uky.edu/pathology/ with successful programs in anatomic and clinical pathology, a vibrant educational program for medical students, residents and fellows, including a COMACC accredited clinical chemistry fellowship, as well as a nationally-recognized research program in neuropathology and research affiliations with the Markey Cancer Center.
