Microbiology, Assistant Director - University of Pittsburgh

The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a faculty member for the Division of Microbiology in the Section of Laboratory Medicine. The candidate must have an M.D. with board certification in Laboratory Medicine/Clinical Pathology or a Ph.D. with training and boards (or board eligible) in Clinical Microbiology. Expertise in bacteriology and new methods are particularly sought. Experience in a large hospital-based service is beneficial. The successful candidate for this position will assist in the ongoing development of cutting edge technologies and diagnostics, contribute significantly to the varied diagnostic, research and educational activities of the Microbiology laboratory, and pursue clinical/translational investigations. All Divisions in Laboratory Medicine have a strong interest in service, research and education and serves the entire UPMC Health System, encompassing some 40+ hospitals. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Eligibility for medical licensure or practice in Pennsylvania is required.
