Clinical Pathologist / Clinical Microbiologist - Cleveland Clinic

The Cleveland Clinic is recruiting a “Patients First” academic clinical pathologist or doctoral-level clinical microbiologist to join the Professional Staff of the Robert J. Tomisch Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute (RT-PLMI) within the Section of Microbiology as a Medical Director of Mycology & Parasitology. Candidates must be board-certified or eligible by the American Board of Pathology and/or the American Board of Medical Microbiology with formal training in clinical microbiology. Microbiologists at any career stage are welcome to apply. The Microbiology Section provides expert diagnostic services within the Cleveland Clinic Health System (CCHS) and serves as the consolidated microbiology laboratory for CCHS hospitals throughout Northeast Ohio and Florida. The Section collaborates closely with Infectious Diseases, Infection Prevention, Antimicrobial Stewardship, and Laboratory Stewardship. Areas within the Section include specimen processing & rapid testing, virology, bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, parasitology, COVID-19 testing, and molecular microbiology. The successful candidate will join the Microbiology Section and direct the mycology and parasitology subsections. The Section is comprised of a forward-thinking collaborative team including clinical microbiology medical directors and more than 120 medical laboratory scientists and technicians. Academic opportunities include clinical, translational, and collaborative research; and the Microbiology Section employs scientists that are exclusively dedicated to these research endeavors. Teaching opportunities include medical laboratory science students, medical students, residents, and fellows. An academic appointment in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University is available and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
