Clinical Chemist - Marshfield Clinic Health System

The Laboratory Service Line at the Marshfield Clinic Health System is seeking a Clinical Chemist to direct an active therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical toxicology program for MCHS, as well as subspecialty testing areas in special chemistry, serum protein electrophoresis and immunodiagnostics. The individual will join 3 other PhD clinical scientists, 19 anatomic and clinical pathologists and over 500 laboratory staff in delivering laboratory services to our 10 regional hospitals and 55 clinic locations located in north-central Wisconsin.

Applicants must have experience developing, using, maintaining, and optimizing testing methods on the following types of instrumentation: HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS. The chosen individual will be responsible for all phases of technical leadership, training, quality assurance/quality control and regulatory compliance associated with both IVD and laboratory-developed testing. Depending upon training and certification, the individual will also be asked to serve as laboratory medical director for one or more of our regional health-care entities with occasional travel expected.

Additional responsibilities may include clinical and/or translational research, clinical consultation, and teaching of staff, medical technology students and medical students. The individual will work closely with our other Clinical Chemist, Clinical Pathologists, Laboratory Administration and provider stakeholders in developing lab testing strategies that further the mission, vision and values of our healthcare system.

Requires a PhD in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or other biological science/related field. Post-doctoral fellowship training in clinical chemistry and certification by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (BC/BE) or equivalent is preferred.
