Clinical Chemistry Laboratories Pathologist - The University of Chicago: Biological Sciences Division: Department of Pathology

The University of Chicago's Department of Pathology, Clinical Chemistry Laboratories, is searching for a full-time faculty member at any rank to serve as Assistant/Associate Director. The Clinical Chemistry section has state-of-the-art total laboratory automation and Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry/ Mass Spectrometry systems providing a vast array of clinical diagnostic tests to our medical center, affiliated network and outreach clients.

The appointee will assist the Director to oversee the quality management program, perform serum protein electrophoresis/immunofixation screening, evaluate and implement new tests, participate in teaching clinical chemistry fellows in our Commission on Accreditation for Clinical Chemistry program, pathology residents and medical technologists, provide consults to clinicians, and perform clinical/translational research. We especially welcome applicants with experience in mass spectrometry (drugs and proteomics applications) and molecular diagnostics (pharmacogenomics). Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have: 1) a PhD (American Board of Clinical Chemistry certified or eligible) or an MD (American Board of Pathology certified or eligible in Clinical Pathology), and 2) hold or be able to obtain an Illinois medical license by start of employment, if applicable. Assessment of applications will consider experience in general diagnostic clinical chemistry, immunoassays, endocrinology, therapeutic drug management, and toxicology.
