Academic Community Clinical Pathologist at the Assistant/Associate Professor level - The Department of Pathology & Immunology and the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine (LGM) at Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM) in St. Louis
We are seeking a highly motivated faculty member interested in practicing clinical pathology in a community hospital setting while also contributing to the academic mission of a major medical school. The successful applicant will provide laboratory medical director and blood bank director oversight to local hospitals in the BJC system and/or surrounding areas. In addition, the ideal candidate will participate in the academic tripartite mission of WUSM via clinical, research and teaching responsibilities on the WUSM campus. Faculty will develop a reputation as a clinical expert in laboratory medicine, with leadership potential at multiple hospitals and opportunities to develop innovative models of clinical pathology care. This faculty member will help emphasize the Department’s commitment to the Saint Louis community by providing inclusive, equitable patient care to diverse patient populations. Training of pathology residents and fellows is an essential component of this position and the candidate will be expected to participate in didactic teaching and mentorship experiences for trainees. Faculty will have opportunities for academic productivity, including clinical and translational research. Hospitals in the BJC system and St. Louis region span the spectrum of patient populations and clinical focus, offering a multitude of potential opportunities for collaboration between institutions and individual scholarly pursuits. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
Education and Expectations:
Candidates must possess a M.D. or D.O. and be AP/CP or CP board-certified. A successful candidate will have experience in provision of clinical consultations, diagnostic stewardship, implementation of new laboratory methods, excellent interpersonal skills, and a collaborative attitude.

The Department of Pathology & Immunology excels in basic and clinical research as well as delivery of outstanding surgical pathology and laboratory medicine services to our patients and colleagues. The Department has an ACGME accredited Anatomic and Clinical pathology residency program and multiple fellowships.
