Hematopathologist OR Clinical Chemist - School of Medicine at Emory University

Two Clinical Pathology Positions Needed – Hematopathologist & Clinical Chemist – Either One of Which Could Also Fill the Chief of Clinical Pathology Vacancy at Grady Health System

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the School of Medicine at Emory University is seeking to hire a hematopathologist and a clinical chemist. The two successful applicants will join the growing faculty within the Clinical Pathology division of the Grady Health System. Appointments for these two positions will be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, on the clinical track or tenure track, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications. Applicants for the hematopathology position must have an MD or equivalent; applicants with either an MD or PhD (or both) will be considered for the clinical chemistry position. For either position, candidates must be board-certified (or board-eligible) in their discipline. Additionally, applicants with leadership experience will also be considered for the role of Chief of Clinical Pathology and Medical Director of the Clinical Laboratories at Grady Health System. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with experience in academic clinical laboratory operations. Successful applicants will also be expected to contribute to teaching at the professional and graduate levels.

Grady Health System consists of Grady Memorial Hospital and several surrounding neighborhood clinics. Grady Memorial Hospital is the largest hospital in Georgia, with over 700 beds, and houses one of the busiest emergency departments and Level I trauma centers in the country. The health system also is the site of internationally recognized centers of excellence for infectious disease, burns, stroke and sickle cell disease. The Grady Health System clinical laboratories comprise a broad scope of laboratory disciplines, including chemistry, toxicology, microbiology, immunology, molecular pathology, hematology, flow cytometry, coagulation, urinalysis, blood banking, transfusion medicine, laboratory informatics and point-of-care testing. The clinical laboratories are one of the largest hospital laboratory systems in the US, performing over 13 million billable tests and managing 27 thousand transfused blood products per year. The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine of Emory University is one of the largest training centers for pathologists in the United States. As such, it offers unique and exciting teaching, clinical service, and research environments with programs in Clinical Chemistry, Hematopathology, Clinical Immunology, Informatics, Molecular Diagnostics, Flow Cytometry, Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine, and Special Coagulation.
