Laboratory Director - Alameda Health System (Alameda County, California)
We are recruiting a 1.0 FTE physician (MD or DO) with exclusive Laboratory Medicine expertise for Laboratory Director of the Clinical Laboratories of Alameda Health System (AHS).
AHS is located in Alameda County, California. The three AHS Clinical Laboratories are located in Highland Hospital (Oakland, CA), Alameda Hospital (Alameda, CA) and San Leandro Hospital (San Leandro, CA). These clinical laboratories provide testing and point of care testing oversight for these three acute care hospitals and associated outpatient clinics, an Acute Care Psychiatric Hospital, three skilled nursing facilities, three free-standing ambulatory clinics and a specialty wound care clinic spread across 20 miles. Total test volume is ~1.5-2 million/year.
The successful candidate will be
• responsible for setting systemwide policy around laboratory testing and utilization,
• an integral member of many AHS Quality and Patient Safety committees and
• a key partner for all clinical departments to optimize patient care and safety.
They will provide Laboratory Medicine teaching and consultation as needed to the AHS academic training programs (Internal Medicine, Surgery, Emergency Medicine at Highland Hospital) and/or private practitioners at Alameda or San Leandro Hospitals).
They will join the other six members of our department. This is a close-knit collegial group of brilliant Anatomic Pathologists, five of whom specialize primarily in Anatomic Pathology and one who specializes in both Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology.
CP board certification is essential; AP experience or board certification not required.
