Medical Director for Molecular and Digital Pathology - Stony Brook Medicine
Position Description
The Stony Brook University Department of Pathology is seeking a pathologist to serve as Medical Director for Molecular and Digital Pathology.
Responsibilities and duties include:
Implementation of advanced molecular diagnostic tests with concentration on cancer diagnoses.
Provide comprehensive Molecular Pathology training to residents and fellows in the department.
Serve as a clinical consultant regarding clinical resource management, test optimization and interpretation of the results of molecular testing.
Provide stewardship of digital pathology within the Anatomic Pathology Division from validation to implementation of the digital pathology systems, as well as faculty and staff training and ongoing program development.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MD, DO, or equivalent in Anatomic Pathology. Board certification or at least three years of experience in molecular pathology. American Board of Pathology eligible or certified in Anatomic Pathology. Eligibility for New York State licensure. Strong diagnostic skills and the potential to serve as an outstanding educator of medical students, Pathology residents, and clinical fellows. Demonstration of scholarly contributions in clinical/translational research and experience in medical education. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience and training in both digital and molecular pathology.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Interest and experience in digital pathology. Experience in general surgical pathology and/or interest in breast, soft tissue and bone, or other subspecialty areas. Eligible for or hold NY State Certificate of Qualification in Molecular Pathology.
