Clinical Chemistry Postdoctoral Fellowship Position - Cleveland Clinic

The Diagnostics Institute at Cleveland Clinic offers a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Chemistry that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry (ComACC).

We are seeking to interview qualified candidates for an off-cycle position to begin January 2025.

Fellows will work and learn in a clinical biochemistry laboratory setting. There are four principal specialty laboratories – blood gas, automation, special chemistry, and immunopathology. The fellows will also rotate through other clinical laboratory areas, including: molecular pathology, microbiology, hematology, and transfusion medicine. The fellows will learn through various pathways – self-study, formal and informal discussions with professional staff/faculty members, residents, and other fellows, working with medical technologists, and interaction with clinicians. There will be abundant opportunities for method development and translational research during the two-year training. The training program will prepare the successful candidate for a career in clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine. Fellows are expected to take the American Board of Clinical Chemistry examination at completion of the program to achieve board certification, diplomate status (DABCC), and eligibility to hold a CLIA license as director of a high complexity CLIA laboratory.

Prerequisites:
Applicants must have an earned PhD(or an equivalent doctoral degree) in biochemistry, chemistry, biology, or closely related field from an accredited university or college. Clinical doctorate holders (MD, DO, etc.) are also eligible to apply; preference will be given to those applicants with more related laboratory experience. All applicants should have successfully completed enough chemistry courses to qualify for the American Board of Clinical Chemistry, i.e., a minimum of 30 semester hours (or equivalent) in undergraduate and/or graduate level chemistry or biochemistry courses taken at institutions acceptable to the Board.

Application Procedures:
A letter of interest and a curriculum vitae should be submitted no later than June 3, 2024, to:
Fellowship Program Director - Edmunds Reineks, MD, PhD
Email: reineke@ccf.org

and to:
