Associate Director of Clinical Chemistry - Boston Children's Hospital
Description: The Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM) at Boston Children’s Hospital is actively recruiting a clinical chemist or clinical pathologist to join the DLM faculty as an Associate Director of Clinical Chemistry. Boston Children’s Hospital is one of the largest pediatric tertiary care facilities in the United States and is a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
The successful candidate will join three other clinical chemistry faculty in overseeing operation of the clinical chemistry service within the Core Laboratory. Clinical service responsibilities will be focused on the areas of general clinical chemistry and mass spectrometry. Expertise and interest in laboratory automation and informatics is desired. A PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree is required. Board certification or eligibility in Clinical Chemistry (American Board of Clinical Chemistry) or Clinical Pathology (American Board of Pathology) is required.
In addition to participating in clinical and administrative responsibilities, applicants should be committed to scholarly activity. This full-time position offers the candidate the opportunity to engage in translational research. The successful candidate is expected to participate in educating medical students, residents and fellows, including fellows in our post-doctoral training program in clinical chemistry. The position includes a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School at either Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience.
The DLM is currently staffed by 8 faculty members and consists of 3 state-of-the-art pediatric clinical laboratories, collectively performing approximately 3 million clinical tests annually. The Core Laboratory is currently the most automated pediatric laboratory in the United States and includes a newly built clinical mass spectrometry laboratory measuring 3,000 square feet.
