The Department of Pathology, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine/VCU Health System, is seeking a full-time Director of Clinical Toxicology and Assistant Director of Clinical Chemistry. Academic rank is Assistant or Associate Professor commensurate with experience. At the rank of Assistant Professor the candidate should be able to demonstrate professional competence in the fields of Clinical Toxicology and Clinical Chemistry, a continuous record of clinical laboratory service activity, teaching experience and a strong interest and/or potential for scholarship. For the rank of Associate Professor, the performance of the candidate should indicate a progressive and sustained record of professional achievements in administrative and/or clinical laboratory service, teaching at a local or regional level, as well as maturity and professional competence in independent scholarship. The successful candidate will have a PhD degree and be board certified/eligible in Clinical Chemistry by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry. Board certification/eligibility in Toxicological Chemistry is preferred and expected within three years. This individual will instruct medical students, participate in the training of pathology residents, and actively participate in strong academic interactions with clinical departments for both laboratory service and scholarly collaborations. The preferred candidate will have experience in fostering collaborative relationships with clinicians and researchers as well as serving as a resource to technologists at the bench. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required.
