Faculty, Apheresis Medical Director/Transfusion Associate Medical Director - Seattle Children's Hospital

The Department of Laboratories at Seattle Children’s Hospital is recruiting a full-time transfusion medicine/apheresis physician faculty member (MD, DO, or MD/PhD).

We seek an outstanding apheresis/transfusion medicine physician who demonstrates excellence in clinical care, translational research, and education. The successful candidate should possess strong interpersonal and managerial skills. Responsibilities include serving as apheresis facility medical director for hematopoietic progenitor cell and immune effector cell collections; oversight/consultation for apheresis procedures; education of trainees; and transfusion medicine and coagulation related consults. Excellent opportunities exist for collaborative research and the individual may choose to develop or continue an academic program. The individual will be an integral component of a multi-faceted clinical laboratory staffed by 18 doctoral staff.

• Candidates must be board-eligible or board-certified in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine by the American Board of Pathology.
• Experience in pediatric apheresis/transfusion medicine is desirable.
• Ideal candidate will have experience in pediatric cell collections as well as knowledge of FACT standards and FDA regulations regarding hematopoietic progenitor cell and immune effector cell collection.
• Candidates with suitable academic records would be eligible for a clinical appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington.
