Academic Molecular Pathologist - Brigham and Women's Hospital

BRIGHAM AND WOMEN'S HOSPITAL
ACADEMIC MOLECULAR PATHOLOGIST

The Department of Pathology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a founding member of Mass General Brigham and a principal teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, is seeking an academically oriented molecular pathologist with established diagnostics skills and an interest in clinical-translational research. The successful applicant’s principal clinical duties will be service/patient care responsibilities in molecular pathology, with a focus on hematopathology-oriented molecular pathology. Certain faculty may also cross-cover other molecular diagnostic services and hematopathology. The ideal candidate will have an MD or MD/PhD degree(s) and be Board certified or eligible in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology (ABP) and Molecular Genetic Pathology, and have a strong record of accomplishment and commitment to patient care, academic scholarship, and training. Bioinformatics skills and board certification in hematopathology are desirable. Clinical responsibilities in molecular pathology are primarily based in the Center for Advanced Molecular Diagnostics (CAMD) and include interpretation of next generation sequencing panels (especially focused on hematologic malignancies), single gene assays including RT-PCR, allele specific PCR, and IGH/TCR gene rearrangement studies as well as teaching of fellows and residents. The CAMD service is currently staffed by 22 faculty (7 assigned to the service focused on hematologic neoplasms), 4 MGP Fellows, and 2 LGG fellows, who collectively handle over 50,000 tests annually. The BWH Department of Pathology has more than 120 faculty members and 55 residents and clinical fellows and offers complete Anatomic and Clinical Pathology services. The environment provides unparalleled opportunities for clinical and translational research within the Department as well as through collaboration with investigators at other Harvard-affiliated institutions, including the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where there are busy multidisciplinary lymphoma, leukemia, myeloma, and transplant programs. Academic rank at the level of Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor and salary will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
