Clinical Pathologist - University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UCLA, Division of Laboratory Medicine, is searching for an outstanding Clinical Pathologist with the skills and interest to develop a strong career that focuses on the intersection between the clinical laboratory and informatics. The appointment would be at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Health Sciences Clinical Professor, commensurate with experience. This is an outstanding opportunity for a well-trained and highly motivated individual to assist with the direction and future growth of a robust laboratory informatics program.
The successful candidate will have an MD or MD/PhD degree, demonstrated experience in clinical pathology and informatics, a record of academic achievement through independent research and scholarly publications, and certification or eligibility for certification in the appropriate subspecialty by the American Board of Pathology (CP or AP/CP). Eligibility for licensure in the state of California is required.
We seek an outstanding laboratorian who will have a collaborative administrative, clinical and academic relationship with other faculty within the division of Laboratory Medicine. The candidate will be expected to have clinical laboratory service responsibilities and utilize informatics to support various lab, Department, hospital and Health System initiatives and strategic goals. The UCLA laboratory operations encompass three laboratories, including Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center Core Laboratory, Santa Monica Hospital Core Laboratory and the Bruin University Reference Laboratory; these laboratories collectively are busy, high-complexity operations whose services span all aspects of clinical chemistry, hematology, coagulation, transfusion medicine, microbiology and toxicology. Duties will also include active participation in the educational mission of the department including the teaching of residents, fellows (including in Clinical Informatics), and medical school students. Creative contributions in clinical activities, educational activities or research projects is expected.

Appointment will be at an academic rank commensurate with the successful applicant’s record and accomplishments. Salary and benefits packages are competitive.
The posted UC salary scales (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/index.html) set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5, Scale 5. The salary range for this position is $250,000 – 450,000. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf), which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
