Medical Director Reference Labs, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute - Cleveland Clinic

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a pathologist with expertise in laboratory outreach reference services to join the Professional Staff of the Robert J. Tomisch Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute (RT-PLMI) as Medical Director, Cleveland Clinic Reference Laboratories. Reporting directly to the RT- PLMI Chair, the Medical Director will be the recognized leader within the Institute for defining, implementing and monitoring RT-PLMI’s reference laboratory services.

Cleveland Clinic Laboratories (CCL) is a full-service, national reference laboratory dedicated to providing world class care for over 25 years. Today, our staff of more than 100 board-certified anatomic and clinical pathologists paired with more than 1,100 medical technologists and laboratory technicians provide crucial pathology and laboratory testing services to clients around the corner, throughout the country, and around the world.

The successful candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in laboratory reference outreach services, demonstrated proficiency in leading and supporting reference lab development strategies across multiple service lines within an organization, as well as the ability to represent the department to the external clinical community. The position will work with key medical and administrative leadership to define, standardize, prioritize and maintain and adhere to laboratory quality and compliance with all policies and procedures across the Cleveland Clinic Healthcare System. The candidate should have knowledge of laboratory accreditation and certification including CLIA, College of American Pathologists (CAP), and COLA. A knowledge of financial standards and reimbursement rules of laboratory outreach services is preferred.

An academic appointment in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University is available and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
